For a long time it was only with the greatest difficulty that strangers could find their way to the police quarters at Penrith, owing to the fact that it was unlit. Quite recently a powerful electric light was erected at the entrance to Sergeant Thorndike's office, and now everything is ready for another light to be placed in a lamp at the lock-up and quarters, on which the words 'Police Station' are printed.
