The Protestant Hall was the scene of a most enjoyable social given in aid of the Mechanics' Institute building fund. About 60 couples were present, with visitors from Penrith, Rooty Hill and other parts of the district. Capital music was was supplied by J Nagell (violin), and J Hill (piano). James Royal made an efficient M C, while the ladies provided an excellent supper, laid out in a marquee at the rear of the hall.
