Leonay's grand namesake

The pretty little suburb of Leonay, at the foot of the mountains, was named after Leo Buring, for many years the doyen of the Australian wine industry. The Buring family originated in Austria and migrated to South Australia in 1849. On October 7, 1876, Hermann Paul Leopold (Leo) Buring was born.
