The beautiful new rural estate Roscrea resides in the Mulgoa Valley, which was originally home to Aboriginal clan, The Mulgoa Tribe - The word Mulgoa was derived from the Darug word Mulgowie, meaning Black Swan and was so named because this particular breed of bird is indigenous to the area - The area is divided into tribal regions, with a boundary formed between the Darug speaking tribes and the Gundungurra clan - In 1821 the name of the Mulgoa clan's Chief was Mary Mary, and they made their living harvesting wheat for one of the area's first land owners, William Cox.
