Snippets of information relate to the weather and the continuous and heavy rains. One resident claims that his orchard is so soft that a shadow can be seen sinking into it. There is a heavy demand for firewood, but the carters are heavily handicapped owing to the bad roads. There have been several mishaps through horses falling, though no bones have been broken. To other matters - Mr Trevertion of Prospect is the successful tenderer for eleven road contracts. The Lloydhurst Road is to receive first attention, then Rupertswood to railway station road. Residents deeply sympathise with A Thompson for his serous loss by the destructive fire at St Marys.
