'At his residence, King Street, Lemongrove, Penrith, Mr John Gilbert, departed this life, on Sunday evening last. Cause of death - syncope of the heart. The 71 year old was a native of Ireland, and came to Australia in his youth. Survived by his widow, 3 sons & 2 daughters. Interment was on Monday afternoon at Church of England Cemetery, Kingswood, Rev Mr Dolf (Curate) officiating.
