It has been almost 200 years since the first official land grants were issued to European settlers at Castlereagh, and plans are well under way to celebrate the bicentenary in April - Penrith Council is hostings the Makings of City History Conference on Saturday and local and family historians are invited to attend - The keynote speaker will Associate Professor Carol Liston - Other speakers include Dr Jim Cohen, Jan Barkley, Lorraine Stacker, George Gyford, Siobhan Lavelle, and Danielle Embleton - The conference starts at 8.45am in the Nepean Room at Penrith Civic Centre - Details and bookings: 4732 7859.
