On Saturday night last, Thomas Player, a prominent railway guard, one of our best cricketers, and a native of the district was accorded a brilliant send-off at Gough's Red Cow Hotel, Penrith. Mr Player has resigned from the Railway Department, and has purchased a business at Muswellbrook. It was an evening when tributes flowed freely in honour of this 'good railway man, and a good man in every way'. Detailed account.
