At the public meeting held in the School of Arts last evening, Penrith's Win the War effort was advanced by the appointment of committees to deal with the care of orphans from overseas, a drive for War Savings Certificates, special efforts to raise funds by carnivals, dances, etc, and the collection of waste materials. The Mayor said that over 5000 orphans were shortly to arrive in NSW and already 3500 applications for their care received.
