An obituary for Mrs Eleanor Charker who died on 27 July at the age of 95 years. She was born in Parramatta in 1817 and removed to St Marys in 1832, aged 15. She was married to the late William Charker a native of Prospect at Cobbitty in 1834 when she and her husband went to reside at Elder Park. She lived at South Creek for 68 years, Her husband pre-deceased her 21 years ago. She leaves behind 3 sons, William, Charles and David, and two daughters Jane, widow of the late Thomas Ryan, and Emma, widow of Lawrence Rushton. Two other sons Thomas and Henry and a daughter Elizabeth predeceased her. A short report of the Charker family history is included in this article.
