Public meeting to fill the vacancy caused by the disqualification of T J Cross as alderman and J Bethune as auditor. Frank Judges was elected auditor. Thomas Cross enquired whether he could stand as Alderman and whether the Mayor would object. He announced that he was retiring as Mr Turnbull would serve Mulgoa well and attempted to withdraw but legally could not. Cross then announced his intention of telling people not to vote for him, and did his job well, as on polling day Turnbull defeated Clissold with not a single vote for Cross.
