The amount of time emergency departments in NSW hospitals were closed to ambulances, except those carrying life-threatening patients, had almost doubled in the past year - The figures, obtained by the State Coalition under the Freedom of Informationa Act, included a significant jump at Mt Druitt and Blacktown hospitals - During July to October 2001, the hours leaped to 41, compared with five hours during the same months in 2000 - At Nepean Hospital, there was an increase from 188 hours to 214 from July to October in the same time frame.
