Some of the key findings from the study that indicated the good positioning of Penrith LGA for development as a 'Smart City' include: Penrith industry has a high level of adoption of IT equipment with 88% of firms owning at least one orkstation; the proportion of Penrith firms with IT infrastructure is above comparable national levels; accounting, word processing, spreadsheet and database software are the applications with the greatest importance for Penrith LGA businesses; up to one half of Penrith LGA businesses use e-business applications; almost 50% of Penrith firms have employees with IT skills and qualifications; The majority of firms have sufficient workers to optimise their IT capacity.
