Variety Concert

Articles
On Saturday night last, Baker's Variety Company gave a really good entertainment at Temperance Hall, Penrith, though small attendance was disappointing. The programme was made up of choruses, solos, comic items, jigs, paper-folding acts, and a contortionist of wonderful ability. As well, Mr Bennett, the music king, gave a wonderful performance producing some excellent music from a feather duster, piece of wood, tin whistle, glass bowl, the ocherina, jam tins, wood blocks, alarm bells. etc. A capital song and dance item, as well as a sand jig, were performed by Miss Madge and Master Finley Ellis - children of W Ellis, an old resident of Penrith, and pupils of Mr Baker. Further details on this really wonderful performance.
