Penrith Volunteer Rescue Association has been providing its life-saving service on the 'smell of an oily rag' for years - But VRA squad captain John Buchtmann said 'postive talks' with Penrith Council could see some light at the end of the tunnel - At its meeting on Monday night council resolved to look into the possibility of providing recurrent funding for the squad - Cr Bateman said a dicision had been made to stick with the VRA rather than use police rescue squads in Penrith, and therefore the VRA should be properly funded - Cr Jim Aitken said a submission should be made to the State Government for funding assistance - Photo.
