Sub-heading is Council Resolution, Much Signed Petition. Penrith Council resolved at its last meeting to request the Railways not to close the boom gates at St Marys railway station to vehicular traffic while the new munition project is under construction. Ald McCalman said that the majority of people in St Marys were strongly opposed to the closing of the boom gates at the railway station, and a petition had been signed by 600 persons, including businesses, who believed that the closing of the gates would be fatal to the life of the community.
