John Simpson Kirkpatrick, better known as The Man With The Donkey, was a good Samaritan who would carry the wounded down through Shrapnel Gully down to the beach. On the morning of May 19th, 1915 Simpson has a wounded man on the back of his donkey, but Simpson was struck by a sniper's bullet and killed. So who was the man on the back of Simpson's donkey? - Did he survive the war?
