In the villages of Midsomer there are strange murders to solve, new clues to examine and scores of suspects to suspect as new father D.C.I. A stolen manuscript and booby-trapped roulette wheel jeopardises a crime writers festival; magic becomes murder when a trick goes horribly wrong; a famous ballad about Midsomer becomes an inspiration for homicide; and the fizz dies out at a sparkling wine launch when the glasses are laced with slug poison. Murder and deception are never far away as mayhem shatters the peaceful and picturesque villages of Midsomer.
