Interview with Janice Cave by Heather Pearce for the Mondo and More: The 20th Century Greening of Leichhardt - Part of a series of 10 interviews co-ordinated by oral historian Roslyn Burge and community volunteers. These Oral Histories explore the shifting patterns in the greening of Leichhardt and domestic gardens represented across the different suburbs in the Leichhardt municipality. It considers the shift from growing vegetables for domesticate consumption to 'lifestyle gardens' and decorative planting. Janice Cave has lived in the Annandale area for 27 years. She has witnessed and contributed to the greening of her suburb during this period. During the interview Janice depicts the transformation of the area in some instances as 'extraordinary' and the outcomes as 'beyond belief', from toxic industrial site to beautiful harbour parklands that is Rozelle Bay.
