James Murphy died at the Nepean Cottage Hospital at the age of 19. He took ill when he, his father and brother Tom, headed off seven weeks ago on their annual shearing tour out west. He took ill in Warren and eventually his father brought him back to Penrith and was operated on at the hospital. He seemed to rally but soon collapsed and passed peacefully away. He is buried at Sir John's Cemetery, Jamisontown.
