James McCooey arrived as a convict in 1822 & was employed at Rooty Hill & Emu Plains convict farms. Later he was overseer of Mulgoa Forest station. His wife Sarah and family joined him in NSW and they settled at Saraville, Mulgoa Forest (now Silverdale)
