Bob Dixon spent years "on the beat" as a police constable with the Metropolitan Police in the early 1960s, witnessing all manner of incidents, from the serious to the ludicrous. This memoir of a London copper charts Bob Dixon's experiences as a young police officer before he joined the CID, covering his life before signing up for the force, his rigorous training, and the vagaries of first patrolling the beat, as well as the lighter side of policing.
